About Huitzilin Maize
Isidro ‘Huitzilin Maize’ Zepeda was born and raised in Southern California.
Drawing wisdom from his Indigenous Mexican roots, his artwork recodifies material realities using ancient and modern technologies, exploring further the spiritual qualities of things, to examine closer how they exist, connect, and interact beyond their physical states, traveling deeper into dreamworld ontologies.
For example, his artwork, Children of the Sun, created in Virtual Reality (VR), was a part of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Community’s Lightning Talks on Decolonial Media Art and Beyond 530 years, which was presented in Daegu, South Korea (2022) and Los Angeles, California (2023). In addition, his most recent solo art show, Sueños Nepantleros, exhibited a collection of his digital artworks.
